Roby's recent appearance on Blue Smoke Grill, a Food Network program, shows that she has more to cooking than many people think. Her barbecue skills were put to the test as she competed against some of the nation's top chefs. The competition was tough, but Roby fought through the pain, despite a cut finger.

A psychology graduate, Roby has worked as a wine expert and as a criminal defense attorney. Prior to competing on Food Network, she had spent some time working as a sommelier, pairing wines with foods. It gave her the chance to re-discover her passion for cooking. Roby took up cooking barbecue after her first child, despite her legal career. Roby was inspired by her father’s dream to open a barbecue restaurant. Roby attended a celebrity chef Harry Soo's barbecue cooking class in 2018. She became a certified barbecue pitmaster, and soon began working at a barbecue restaurant.


She began her passion for barbecue as a hobby, and eventually she became obsessed with it. At first, she made barbecue dishes from her back porch. After that, she was invited to compete in barbecue events across the country. She cooked alongside some of America's most famous pit masters. Since then, she has launched a series of pop-ups around Dayton, Ohio. She plans to open a food truck.

In the upcoming third season of Food Network BBQ Team Brawl, two of the world's top chefs will join forces to compete for the ultimate grilling title. Anne Burrell, Jet Tila and Bobby Flay will face off in a dinner party brawl sure to be memorable. Matt Roth, a favorite of "BBQ Brawl", returns to the Austin-based Smokin Beauty along with his wife Thao.

Ann gave instructions to the contestants in the first episode Food Network BBQ Team Brawl. Jet and Team Bobby let them decide what they would make. Team Bobby fell for his ceviche while Jet let them choose. This time Team Anne has an advantage. Anne even leapt down on Team Bobby's throat while he was reaching to get an ingredient.

Some familiar faces will be appearing in the new season's BBQ Team Brawl, just as they do with all Food Network competitions. Lee Ann Whippen, who has competed in barbecuing for 23 years, will serve as the judge for Team Anne. She is also the managing member of Deviled Pig Tampa and a judge in the Kansas City Barbecue Society. She has been a star on television shows such as Throwdown with Bobby Flay and BBQ Pitmasters, and has won numerous state and international barbecue championships.


Flay vs Symon was another contest for the best barbecue sandwich. Lee Ann chose to make a sandwich the traditional way, while Susie chose a more exotic approach. While her pork belly bam mi was bold and delicious, the judges disagreed. Team Anne's hamburger was tasty, juicy, and served on a solid bun.
